ConsortiCo success at Business Awards

ConsortiCo won the Innovation and Strategy Award at the Bedfordshire and Luton Business Excellence Awards 2010 on 11 November.

Brian Roe, Chairman, and Carolyn Boyd, Development Director, collected the Innovation and Strategy Award at this year’s ceremony, held at the Park Inn, Bedford and where sporting legends Ray Stubbs and Jimmy Greaves graced the stage sharing stories from the past.

Following the presentation, Brian Roe commented: “The award confirms that the concept behind ConsortiCo exactly fits with the Government’s plans for devolving power from the centre to the grass roots of society. This is a rousing endorsement for the contribution local voluntary sector organisations provide. All members are now part of an award-winning organisation. I feel privileged to be a part of a group of forward thinking organisations and proud that the innovation, which has come from the third sector, has been recognised.”

  A warm welcome is extended to the latest organisations to join the ConsortiCo consortium:

Noah (New Opportunities And Horizons) is a Luton-based charity offering hope and support to people struggling against homelessness and exclusion.

Spurgeons has been working on behalf of disadvantaged children since the charity was first founded, 140 years ago

Goldington Family Centre provides services and activities for children from 0 to 5 years, providing learning and life development opportunities for children and their families.

Bedfordshire Community Foundation is a grant maker supporting local community groups and charities

 Youth in Focus

Big Lottery has announced funding for around 30 projects which support young people who are:

• carers

• care leavers

• young offenders

ConsortiCo is leading a bid across the Bedford area in conjunction with voluntary and statutory services.  If successful, the bid could bring over £0.5m to support young people in the borough.
